The Red Ryder Band

“Country with that Detroit-Blues edge”
This is how Red Ryder is being described on “Music Row” in Nashville – Working with BMG Publishing, Sony/ATV Music Publishing and EMI Publishing Red Ryder is combining their own original songs with songs from some of Nashville’s most prolific and successful writers to produce their “high energy” country sound.

Red Ryder started like every other band by paying their dues playing the country club circuit and playing mostly top-40 covers.  That all changed the day the band was hired to backup as well as open for Country Music Association (CMA) Hall of Fame artist Hank Thompson. Those shows proved to be a defining moment for Red Ryder.   Over the next few years the band found themselves working more and more with national shows and country radio

Around the same time CMA board of director and DJ of the year, Joe Wade Formacola approached Ned Doerr and offered to sponsor him for membership in the CMA.  As an artist member this opened numerous doors of Nashville’s Music Row to Ned and the band.

Through his CMA membership Ned befriended Bassist/Producer Dave Pomeroy.  With Dave’s guidance and help Ned soon found himself meeting with and developing a working relationship with Sony/ATV, BMG and Universal publishing companies.

Several years later Ned met artist, songwriter and producer Judy Rodman. He was a fan from her “solo” days and was interested in possibly recording her hit “He’ll Thinks She’ll Marry”.  Judy was very open to that idea and graciously sent Ned that song along with several others for the band to check out.

Not only have these alliances given Red Ryder the opportunity to record and perform some great songs from some of Nashville’s most prolific writers, but it has also help, through example, improve the bands own songwriting skills giving the band a deep catalog of quality songs.
